Nico Ooyevaar is a lawyer specialising in indirect tax, with particular expertise in customs, excise and VAT law. He advises multinational clients on cross-border trade in Europe, North and South America, Asia (including West Asia-Middle East), Australia and New Zealand.
Nico holds a Dutch law degree from the University of Amsterdam and a postgraduate degree in indirect tax law from Leiden University.
After a brief period at Dutch Customs, Nico joined a private practice. He spent thirteen years as a partner at KPMG Meijburg, the Dutch KPMG tax practice. Later, Nico co-founded McMan & Co to provide senior, hands-on counsel to multinationals, including Fortune 500 companies, facing complex trade and customs challenges across diverse industrial sectors.
An experienced customs litigator, he represents clients before both EU and national customs authorities and courts, including the Court of Justice of the EU.
Nico is a member of several professional organisations, including the International Fiscal Association, the International Bar Association (Trade and Customs Committee), the International VAT Association, the Association of European Attorneys and IR Global.
