Privacy Notice

Last updated: 1 September 2026

1. Who we are

McMan & Co (“we”, “us” or “our”) provides counsel and representation to multinational corporations, importers and exporters, trade associations, freight forwarders and carriers with respect to international trade and customs law and VAT.

For the purposes of applicable data protection law, we are the controller of the personal data described in this notice.

If you have any questions about this notice or how we use personal data, you can contact us at:

Email: contact@mcmanco.com
Telephone: +31 20 800 4860

2. Personal data we collect

We provide our services principally to companies and other organisations. Most of the information we handle therefore relates to businesses rather than individuals.

Where we deal with representatives, employees, directors, advisers or other contacts of our clients or prospective clients, we will process limited personal data:

  • name;
  • job title and organisation;
  • business email address and telephone number; and
  • information contained in correspondence or otherwise provided to us in connection with an enquiry or our services.

We may also receive personal data when an individual contacts us using the contact details provided on our website.

3. How and why we use personal data

We use personal data only where necessary for our business and professional activities, including to:

  • communicate with clients, prospective clients and their representatives;
  • respond to enquiries;
  • provide and administer our legal counsel and representation services;
  • manage our professional and business relationships; and
  • comply with applicable legal, regulatory and professional obligations.

Our legal basis will generally be our legitimate interests in operating our practice, communicating with clients and their representatives, responding to enquiries, developing and managing professional relationships, providing and improving our services, protecting our business and legal rights, and administering our business effectively.

Where we deal directly with an individual in relation to an engagement, processing may also be necessary to enter into or perform that contract. We may also process personal data where this is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

Where permitted by applicable law, we may use business contact details to send relevant information about our services or professional activities. You may object to receiving direct marketing at any time by contacting us using the details above or by using the unsubscribe option included in the relevant communication.

4. Who we share personal data with

Where necessary, we may share limited personal data with:

  • service providers who support our practice, such as IT, email, website or other professional service providers; and
  • trusted specialists, advisers, lawyers or other professional contacts in the Netherlands or other jurisdictions where this is necessary to advise on or provide our services in relation to cross-border matters.

The information shared will generally be limited to what is necessary, such as a name, organisation, contact details and relevant correspondence. We may also disclose personal data where required by law or where reasonably necessary in connection with legal advice, representation, legal proceedings or the protection of our legal rights.

Where recipients process personal data on our behalf, we require them to handle it appropriately and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

5. International transfers

Because our work concerns cross-border matters, we may transfer limited personal data to recipients outside the European Economic Area, including specialists in other jurisdictions.

Where the European Commission has not recognised the recipient country as providing an adequate level of protection, we will use an appropriate safeguard permitted by the GDPR. Given the limited nature of the information involved, this may include relying on the derogation for occasional transfers that are necessary for the performance of a contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures taken at the individual’s request, where the conditions are met.

This derogation is used only where the transfer is occasional, necessary and legally available. It is not intended to cover regular, repeated or systematic transfers. Where this derogation is not available, we will implement another lawful transfer mechanism or safeguard, including, where necessary, standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep personal data

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide our services and meet applicable legal, regulatory, professional and record-keeping requirements.

When personal data is no longer required, we will delete it or otherwise dispose of it securely.

7. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and the law applicable to you, you may have rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to:

  • request access to your personal data;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
  • request deletion of your personal data;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing; and
  • request the transfer of certain personal data.

These rights are subject to certain legal conditions and exceptions.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details above.

You also have the right to make a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). Further information is available at: https://autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

8. Changes to this notice

We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The current version will be made available on our website and will show the date on which it was last updated.
